An old dusty auto harp found in my parents house came in useful. I recorded a few plucked notes from this old machine using a handheld digital recorder. This sounded quite interesting as I could detect a wavy modulation in the sound as the notes trailed off.
I then brought this recording into Ableton to produce resonant, stretched out pad sounds using the fantastic granulator plug. Valhalla reverb always comes in handy too. A sound source is simply that; a source. There is no telling what transformations are possible through processing.
